Questions parents ask first
No jargon, no hedging. If we do not know something, we say so.
Starting out
The questions almost every parent asks in the first month.
Special needs parenting is raising a child with a developmental, learning, sensory, or physical difference — such as autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or a learning disability. It involves everyday parenting plus coordinating therapy, education support, and advocacy for your child's needs.
If your child is not meeting speech, motor, social, or play milestones for their age, or has lost a skill they previously had, seek an evaluation. Early intervention works best before age six, when the brain is most adaptable. You do not need a confirmed diagnosis to begin.
Waiting costs the one thing you cannot recover: developmental time. Observation is fine; inaction is not. Get a professional assessment. If your child is developing typically, you lose nothing. If they are not, you gain years.
Yes. Support does not require a label. We help you understand your child's profile, guide you toward the right assessment, and begin practical support in the meantime.
Finding support in India
Where help exists, and what it costs.
You can find support through parent communities, special educators, and early intervention centres. Special Needs Parenting offers free guides and a national parent community online, with in-person programs through Briio Kids in Bhubaneswar and Angul, Odisha, and home-based support across India.
Yes. All guides, checklists, articles, and community access on SpecialNeedsParenting.in are free. Paid structured programs — coaching, special education, and therapy — are offered separately through Briio Kids.
Start with our national online community, then check for city-level parent groups and hospital-linked support circles. For Odisha, Briio Kids runs in-person parent circles in Bhubaneswar and Angul; elsewhere, Briio At Home provides remote and home-based support.
Programs and coaching
What the paid side involves.
Yes. Coaching, special education guidance and school liaison run online nationwide, and Briio At Home delivers structured home-based intervention for families outside Bhubaneswar and Angul.
Parent coaching teaches you to manage routines, meltdowns, communication and daily living skills at home. Sessions combine practical strategy, emotional support, and accountability, usually over a set number of weeks.
Guides and downloads
Using and sharing what's here.
Yes. Every guide, checklist and template is free to download and use with your family, school or therapist. We ask only for an email so we can send updated versions.
Yes, and we encourage it. Please keep our name and website on the document so other families can find the source. Do not sell them or remove attribution.
Who we are
The people behind the site.
The hub is founded by Dr. Ananya, a special needs parenting coach and mother of a neurodivergent child, who also founded Briio Kids — a neurodivergent-affirming school and intervention ecosystem based in Odisha, India.
They are connected but distinct. Special Needs Parenting is a free public hub of guidance, community and resources. Briio Kids delivers structured paid services — special education, therapy and coaching — at centres in Bhubaneswar and Angul and at home across India.
No. We provide parenting guidance, education support and community. Diagnosis and clinical treatment should come from qualified paediatricians, psychologists and licensed therapists. We help you understand what they tell you and what to do next.
